Synching your Powerschool and Schoology Gradebooks

Here is a 20 minute video going over how to sync your two grade books. Although I recommended weighting categories when the video was made, I do not recommend doing any weighting in Schoology now. We noticed that when we did that, the grade books did not match.

Also, it is best to map the categories exactly, so make sure you have the following categories in both grade books: Homework, Test, Quiz, Project

Steps for Grade Book Integration

in Powerschool:
  1. Set up Powerschool grade book for each course using the categories:  Homework, Test, Quiz, Project
  2. Save as needed

in Schoology
  1. Go to one of your term courses
  2. Click on the Grade book tab
  3. Click on Grade set up
  4. Click the + sign in categories and create the four categories Homework, Test, Quiz, Project
  5. Click copy settings (in the right hand corner) and choose the courses you want to copy to
  6. Choose what you want to copy

Setting up the Integration
  1. Click on Powerschool App on the bottom left of your screen
  2. Click on the Configuration Tab
  3. Put a check in the Automatically Shorten Assignment Titles box
  4. Put a check in the Customize Grading Category box
  5. Click the arrow and map the categories exactly
  6. Repeat for each course

Things to remember about the sync:
  • The flow of information is one way - Schoology to Powerschool
  • Schoology will over ride Powerschool grades
  • If you leave a blank in Schoology you can manually add the grade in Powerschool
  • If you don't see the assignment in Powerschool (It'll have a little down arrow in the corner), go back to the Powerschool app and click on Sync Grades.  You can manually sync by pushing the button, if there is a problem, an ! will show and if you mouse over it, it will explain what the problem is.
  • Many times if it did not sync it is because there is something missing from the assignment (grading period, assignment date, category)
